Guide to Ice Skating in Downtown Omaha
The Skate Ribbon in Downtown Omaha is one of the newest (and coolest) attractions in the city.
The Skate Ribbon was part of Omaha’s massive $300 million waterfront revitalization. It opened in the summer of 2023 for skating and rollerblading. And in November, it was converted to ice skating.
Location and Parking
The Skate Ribbon is situated in Downtown Omaha at Eighth and Farnam Streets, nestled on the northwest edge of the Heartland of America Park.
It’s a 5 to 10-minute walk from the Old Market.
There is metered street parking near the Skate Ribbon and Gene Leahy Mall. You can also park in the public parking garage at 9th and Farnam.
Free parking is available near the Kiewit Luminarium if you are OK with a walk.
The Skate Ribbon is open during the following hours (please note that these hours are subject to change on holidays or for special events.):
- Monday to Thursday: 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday: 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Saturday: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Sunday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
To guarantee your spot on the ice, reserve your skating session online. It’s a simple process: book your time, fill out the skate waiver, and you’re all set. You can rent ice skates when you arrive.
If you don’t have your own skates, you can rent them. It is $4 for kids and $5 for adults.
Skate sizes are available from youth size 9 to men’s 16.
