Also referred to as DC West, Douglas County West Community Schools came about from the merger of Valley Public Schools and Waterloo Public Schools in the mid 2000s.
DC West Elementary School

The relatively small school district includes one elementary school and one high school building in Valley, as well as one middle school building and a preschool in Waterloo. In addition, the district operates an alterative high school program, separate from the main high school. The small community sits in western Douglas County, outside of Omaha. DC West Elementary School is a past recipient of the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program.
