Guide to Living in Waterloo, Nebraska

Waterloo, Nebraska is a small town located in between the Elkhorn River and Highway 275, Highway 64, and Blondo Street. This is around 240th and Maple Street.

Demographics

Waterloo has around 950 people.

What’s Considered Waterloo?

The actual town of Waterloo is between Maple Street and Blondo Street, 240th Street, and the Elkhorn River. However, anything in between the Platte River and Elkhorn River is considered Waterloo.

Navigating Waterloo

Highways 64, 275, and 6 are the primary roads that people use in Waterloo. Blondo Street is also a main street. River Rd Drive goes through the heart of the city. 3rd Street and 7th Street are two other main roads within the city.

Hospitals Nearby

Lakeside Hospital off 168th and Center is the closest hospital to Waterloo. It’s only 6.5 miles away, so it shouldn’t take longer than 10-15 minutes to drive to it.

Schools

DC West School District in Valley is where students who live in Waterloo go. This is only about an 8-minute drive. DC West is a Class C1 school for athletics.

Parks & Recreation

Riverwest Park is just on the other side of the Elkhorn River. People in Waterloo have access to two different rivers, allowing for some outdoor activities. The McNeill Soccer Complex is also just on the other side of the Elkhorn River.

Entertainment

There are a few different restaurants in Waterloo, including Farmer Brown’s Steakhouse, Dog House Saloon, and El Bee’s. For other entertainment options, Omaha is about a 10-15 minute drive, making it very easy to access the different options in West Omaha and other places along Dodge Street.

City Services

Waterloo has a Board of Trustees with five board members that are elected by the town. They serve as department heads for the different departments in the government.
